Mindfulness for Parents and Elementary School Children, Ages 6-10 (Hybrid)
Our minds are easily-distracted, and our thoughts are often wandering. This state naturally leads to our feeling disconnected from ourselves, and from others. Mindfulness helps us to train our focus and attention, and teaches us to observe our thoughts and emotions with less reactivity. We also learn what it feels like to bring compassion to ourselves and others. Scientific studies suggest that mindfulness can help reduce stress, create a sense of well-being, reduce anxiety and depression, and help with emotional regulation.
Bring your elementary-aged child or children to learn some basic mindfulness practices in this in-person or online class with Dr. Ann Friedman, psychologist and certified mindfulness instructor. The classes include:
July 9: An introduction to mindfulness, mindful eating and bringing mindfulness into the day.
July 16: Training the mind for more presence through mindful listening and walking.
July 23: Understanding our negative thinking and learning to let it go.
July 30: Practicing self-compassion and letting go of judgment.
This program will be offered both in-person and via livestreaming. Please use the registration form to select which way you plan to participate.
