Alchemy and Jung (Livestreaming)

Mansoor Abidi

Event details

For C. G. Jung, what the modern psychotherapists see in their patients' psyche, the alchemist saw in chemical form. Alchemy, therefore, is a precursor of the modern study of the unconscious. It provided, and as a metaphor continues to provide, a historical model to see the process of individuation or transformation of human personality in practice. Over four weeks, join us for an introduction to, and an overview of, Jung's interpretation of alchemy. Discover the origins of alchemy, spiritual metallurgy in Christian and Muslim Alchemists, and the alchemical opus as an unconscious projection. We will explore the psychospiritual and symbolic significance of the alchemical terms such as prima materia, the spirit of Mercurius, the lapis or philosopher's stone, the alchemical vessel, the different stages and operations of the alchemical process, and much more.
