Honoree Mary Wolff, one of The Jung Center’s longest-serving trustees, was a devoted student and enduring friend of Jung Center founder Carolyn Grant Fay. Together, using dance and expressive arts therapies, Mary and Carolyn inspired and helped many grow and move through life. Mary’s love of creative expression led her to share Carolyn’s teachings with students at The Jung Center and patients at Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
Honoree Lynn Baird, as the longtime chair of The Jung Center’s Development Committee, has dedicated herself to raising the funds and community patronage necessary to support the Center’s work. Not only has Lynn been the creative force behind their events for many years, she has also raised significant funds for Texas Children’s Cancer Center as co-creator of several of its exciting events.
Our Speaker KRISTIN NEFF
Dr. Neff – the world’s foremost expert on self-compassion — says that it’s time to “stop beating yourself up and leave insecurity behind.” Society tells us we need to be constantly above average to feel good about ourselves, but there is always someone more attractive, more successful, more intelligent. And when we do manage to grab hold of high self-esteem, it inevitably rises and falls with our latest success or failure.
In her pioneering book Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself, Dr. Neff offers expert advice on how to limit self-criticism and live a more effective, contented, and fulfilled life. Self-Compassion has been called “transformative,” “life-changing,” and “essential reading for all of us seeking inner peace and true, lasting happiness in our lives.”
Dr. Neff is an associate professor of educational psychology at The University of Texas at Austin. She co-created Mindful Self-Compassion, an eight-week program to teach self-compassion skills that is affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
The Spring Benefit is The Jung Center’s primary fundraiser each year. By attending or contributing to the Benefit, you make the educational programs of The Jung Center possible. Thank you for your support.
