Mar 31 - Apr 28 (no class Apr 21)
$75 ($65 Jung Center members)
Get an extraordinary glimpse into the process of making a film about the paranormal in this four-week lecture series. Film has become an important medium for transmitting spiritual and metaphysical ideas in the modern world, and the act of viewing film itself has visionary and ritual aspects. The Houston-based company XL films is currently in production on a film based on the instructor's book Authors of the Impossible (University of Chicago, 2010). In this series, film clips, interviews, podcasts, and first-hand accounts by crew members will be used to explore the filmmaking process, the role of special effects and animation, and some of the marketing, cultural, and philosophical challenges involved in using film to communicate metaphysical ideas. A teaser, a movie poster, some early film clips, and the project's development can all be tracked at www.authorsoftheimpossible.com
